MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Freshman forward
Alaina Giampietro was named to the Hockey Commissioners Association's Women's Rookie of the Year Watch List. It was announced by the HCA today, Thursday afternoon.
Appearing in 26 games this season, Giampietro is currently the team leader in goals and points for the Colonials (11-9—20).
Her 11 goals rank fourth in the CHA and her 20 points are in the top 10 in the conference.
From Strongsville, Ohio, Giampietro has earned several awards this season. She's been tabbed Rookie of the Week three times by the CHA conference. In October, the freshman garnered CHA and HCA Rookie of the Month honors.
Through the 2023-24 campaign, she's produced five, multipoint games and also recorded a five-game point streak in the month of October. On top of that, the freshman owns two game-winning goals and two power play tallies.
23 first-year NCAA women's hockey players were listed by the Hockey Commissioners Association. One of the talented rookies will be voted National Rookie of the Year by the nation's assistant coaches. At season's end, a ballot consisting of each Division I conference's Rookie of the Year will be presented to the assistant coaches and they will vote, one vote per school to identify the winner. This year's National Rookie of the Year will be announced during the Frozen Four in Durham, NH in March.
