RMU LATELY
The Colonials pulled out a thrilling 64-62 win over Duquesne on Tuesday night to remain perfect on the season. RMU held Duquesne to just 39 rebounds in the match. Duquesne was averaging 53.5 RPG before entering the matchup and was ranked second in the country in rebounding. A pair of made free throws by
Aislin Malcolm with three seconds on the clock sealed the win for RMU, making it their first win over the Dukes since 2009 and moving them to 4-0 to begin the year.
GIVON GOES OFF: RMU GUARD DELIVERS ELECTRIFYING NIGHT
Senior guard
Noa Givon had a huge night for the Colonials in their win against Duquesne. Givon came off the bench and ignited for 21 points to lead RMU in the match. Offensively, Givon went 8-for-14 from the floor and an incredible 5-for-9 from beyond the arc. In her career, Givon has now recorded over 600 points following her double-digit game against the Dukes.
MALCOLM HOMECOMING
Aislin Malcolm is returning to the Petersen Events Center, but this time in a different uniform. The 5-11 senior guard came to RMU after playing three seasons at Pitt. For the Panthers, Malcolm appeared in over 70 games. Last season for Pitt, Malcolm averaged 4.5 PPG. During the 2023-24 season, Malcolm was the best on the team in scoring with 9.3 PPG. In her freshman season, Malcolm appeared in 23 games off the bench, averaging 3.1 PPG while grabbing 18 rebounds and nine assists. Her 41.2% from deep led all ACC freshmen with at least 20 made triples while also ranking sixth among NCAA freshmen in 3pt%. Since transferring to RMU, Malcolm has led the Colonial offense, averaging 16.0 PPG, which is third in the Horizon League. She was named the #HLWBB Player of the Week back on Nov. 10 by the league office.
SCOUTING PITT
Pitt is 3-2 to begin the season, most recently picking up an 87-65 win over Le Moyne on Tuesday night to get back into the win column following a 69-63 loss to Division III Scranton last Sunday. The Panthers have four players scoring double digits, with redshirt junior Fatima Diakhate leading the Panthers. Diakhate is averaging a double-double with 14.4 PPG and 10.0 RPG.
RMU AND PITT HISTORY
The Colonials and the Panthers are set to face off for the 25
th time, with Pitt holding a 24-0 record against RMU. The pair met last November, with the Panthers getting a 64-51 win at the Petersen Events Center. In the matchup,
Jada Lee (12) and
Noa Givon (10) led the Colonial offense. The Colonials recorded 10 steals in the contest.
