MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU women's basketball is gearing up for its conference home opener as the Colonials welcome Detroit Mercy to the UPMC Events Center on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+, and live stats will be powered through SIDEARM.
RMU LATELY
The Colonials are coming off a commanding 72-44 non-conference win over the California (Pa.) Vulcans to move to 7-2 overall on Saturday night. RMU secured its third straight win while also recording its biggest lead of the season against an opponent, going up 31 points over the Vulcans in the fourth quarter.
Eva Levingston had a big night for the RMU, pulling down 16 points and eight rebounds to lead the Colonials both offensively and defensively. Three other Colonials scored in double-digits with
Aislin Malcolm (14),
Bailey Kuhns (11), and
Layke Fields (10) all providing an offensive push for the Colonials. RMU held the Vulcans to just 27.4% shooting from the floor, while the Colonials shot 45.6%
SCOUTING UDM
The Titans are currently 3-5 overall and 2-0 coming into the matchup with the Colonials. Detroit Mercy picked up wins over Cleveland State (76-68) and IU Indy (74-69) to remain perfect in Horizon League action. The Titans have two players scoring double-digits with Jasmine Edwards (12.4) and Makayla Jackson (11.9) leading the way for Detroit Mercy. Edwards also leads the team in rebounds, averaging 5.5 per game. In Horizon League statistics, the Titans are ninth in the league in offense, averaging 63.1 PPG, while being 10
th in the league in defense, allowing teams to score 75.3 PPG.
RMU AND UDM HISTORY
Tomorrow's meeting will be the 10
th contest between the pair in history, with Detroit Mercy winning the series 6-3. At home, the Colonials are 1-3 against the Titans, with their last home win against Detroit Mercy coming back on 1/30/2022, with the Colonials picking up a 68-56 win. The pair met twice last season, with RMU losing at home 66-58 before going on the road to pick up a 77-64 victory over the Titans.
