BOSTON – RMU women's hockey defenseman
Linnea Misner has been named the Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon. The freshman blue-liner put together one of the best offensive weekends in the league, delivering back-to-back multipoint performances in a road series at RIT.
Misner opened the weekend by matching her single-game career high with a three-point outing, scoring once and adding two assists in the series opener. She carried that momentum into the finale, tacking on another goal and assist to finish the weekend with five points—tied for the most among any AHA player over the two-game stretch.
The Springfield, Manitoba native is currently riding a four-game point streak, totaling two goals and five assists during that span. Her production from the blue line has been central to RMU's attack this season, as she leads all RMU defensemen with 13 points on three goals and 10 assists while also contributing 28 blocked shots in the defensive zone.
This marks the second weekly honor of Misner's young career after she was previously selected as AHA Defenseman of the Week earlier this season.
The Colonials now have six AHA weekly awards this year:
RMU will wrap up its six-game road swing this weekend with a two-game conference trip to Syracuse. Game one is slated for Friday, December 5 at 6:00 PM, followed by game two on Saturday, December 6 at 3:00 PM.
