RMU Women's Hockey Closes Regular Season Against Lindenwood

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's hockey team wraps up its regular season this weekend with a two-game home series against Lindenwood. The Colonials host the Lions on Friday, February 14 at 7:00 PM before concluding the series on Saturday, February 15 at 12:00 PM. A pregame ceremony will be held Saturday to honor the team's seniors.
 
Both games will be streamed live on FloHockey, with Friday's commentary provided by Casey Erlewein, Brett Magulick, and Joey Jirmasek, while Adam Gusky and Bob Kennedy will call Saturday's action.
 
RMU LATELY
RMU (8-21-3, 2-14-2 AHA) looks to bounce back after dropping a pair of home games to Syracuse, 4-1 and 5-1. The Colonials' goals came from Mya Neugent and Catriona Crarer, while Laura Eustace, Morgan Giannone, and Shayne Desjardins each recorded an assist.
 
Giannone continues to pace the Colonials offensively, leading the team in goals (8), assists (11), and points (19)—a new career high, surpassing last season's total of 18 points (9-9—18). Graduate forward Veronica Bac has also netted eight goals, while defenseman Allyson Hebert leads the nation with 96 blocked shots. In net, Maggie Hatch enters the final series with seven wins, two shutouts, and a .916 save percentage.
 
SERIES HISTORY VS. LINDENWOOD
Since 2011, RMU has dominated the all-time series against Lindenwood, boasting a 38-8-2 (.813) record. The Colonials enjoyed a 17-game win streak against the Lions from 2017 through January 2024. At home, RMU is 21-4 against Lindenwood, averaging 3.73 goals per game while shutting out the Lions 12 times.
 
Earlier this season in St. Charles, Mo., RMU and Lindenwood battled to a 3-3 tie in the opener, with the Colonials winning the shootout 2-1 to secure an extra point. RMU erased a 3-0 deficit with goals from Crarer, Jersey Phillips, and Janelle Evans, while Phillips and Lindsey Smolen scored in the shootout. In game two, RMU claimed a 3-0 victory behind goals from Alyssa Rasmuson (her first career goal), Giannone (power-play), and Thalia D'Elia (empty-net). Kaitlyn Schooley (2a), D'Elia (1g,1a), and Crarer (1g,1a) all recorded multi-point weekends.
 
Goaltender Maggie Hatch was instrumental in that series, securing her second shutout of the season and third of her career with a 30-save performance, including 18 stops in the third period.
 
SCOUTING LINDENWOOD
Lindenwood (3-25-2, 2-15-1 AHA) enters the weekend on a nine-game losing streak since facing RMU earlier this season. The Lions are led by senior forward Morgan Neitzke, who has a team-high 10 goals, 11 assists, and 21 points. Graduate forward Gigi Pora leads the team in power-play goals (3) and game-winning goals (2), while graduate defenseman Josey Dunne has blocked 68 shots.
 
Between the pipes, Lindenwood has rotated three goaltenders: Catherine Hodgins (1 win, .899 save percentage), Anna LaRose (1 win, .888 save percentage), and Madison Bowtell (1 win, .865 save percentage).
 
PLAYOFF PICTURE
RMU currently sits fifth in the AHA standings, with Lindenwood in sixth. Following this series, the Colonials will head on the road for the AHA Quarterfinal Round on Saturday, February 22, where they will face either No. 3 Syracuse or No. 4 RIT in a single-elimination matchup.
