RMU Softball Picked Second in Horizon League Preseason Poll

Colonials receive one first-place vote

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The RMU softball team has been selected to finish second in the 2025 Horizon League Preseason Poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
 
Cleveland State was tabbed the preseason favorite, receiving 80 total votes and eight first-place selections. RMU was picked second with 62 points and secured the only other first-place vote.
 
Under the guidance of seventh-year head coach Jexx Varner, RMU returns 14 players from last season's squad that competed in the 2024 Horizon League Tournament. The Colonials finished 20-24 overall and 13-10 in conference play in 2024.
 
RMU will open its 2025 season on Friday, February 14, at the Gardner-Webb Tournament in Boiling Springs, N.C. The Colonials are set to face Iona, Sacred Heart, and host Gardner-Webb across the weekend.
