MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU Women's Soccer Head Coach
Michelle Rick today announced that five key members of the Colonials' roster will be actively competing with semi-professional teams throughout the summer of 2025.
The group of student-athletes set to compete this summer includes returning midfielders
Joey Tomlinson and
Madison Hurst, defenders
Jillian Marvin and incoming freshman Bailey Campbell, and transfer goalkeeper Abbey Cowles. Their participation in these highly competitive leagues underscores the program's commitment to fostering elite talent and preparing for success in the Horizon League.
"It's tremendous that these five student-athletes will be competing at such a high level over the off-season," stated Coach Rick. "This helps us continue to build a strong foundation and competitive culture as we head into another challenging season of Horizon League soccer. The experience they gain will be invaluable both individually and for the collective strength of our team."
Junior midfielder
Joey Tomlinson will return to her home club, Hex FC Tempest, a formidable organization based in Quakertown, Pa., that competes in the Women's Premier Soccer League (WPSL). The WPSL is recognized as one of the largest women's soccer leagues in the world, offering a high level of competition and exposure.
"I chose to play for this team because it's very close to home and the compete level is great," Tomlinson shared. "The team's dynamic and goals resonate with my skills and aspirations. A lot of girls on my team are from my past teams and from my hometown, so it's nice to reconnect and play soccer with them again."
Sophomore midfielder
Madison Hurst, who enjoyed a successful rookie season culminating in her selection to the Horizon League All-Freshman Team, will be playing for local club Beadling SC, another respected organization within the WPSL.
"I chose to play for Beadling because of the amazing coaches and players who continuously push me to improve in all aspects of the game," stated Hurst.
An integral part of the Colonials' backline, junior defender
Jillian Marvin will also return to Beadling SC. Marvin was a team captain this past year, demonstrating exceptional leadership and durability by playing all 1,712 minutes of the season.
"This summer, I'm proud to represent Beadling," said Marvin. "Having grown up with the club, I've had the privilege of developing my skills alongside talented teammates and coaches who've helped mold me into the player I am today, including my collegiate career."
Incoming freshman defender Bailey Campbell is taking a proactive step in her collegiate preparation by playing semi-professionally for Beach FC, a club out of WPSL II, located in Virginia Beach, Va.
"I chose this team because I've played with them for my entire soccer career," said Campbell. "I want to continue to work with these coaches and players to prepare me for college."
Also, playing semi-professional soccer this summer is goalkeeper Abbey Cowles, a transfer from UMBC who will be competing for FC Monmouth, a club located in Monmouth County, N.J.
"I chose this team because it was local and their coaching staff is great," stated Cowles. "The coaches really care about each player's development, and their focus isn't just about winning but getting us ready for the fall season."
