2024 YEAR IN REVIEW
Under Head Coach
Jonathan Potter, the Colonials made program history in 2024, winning their first Horizon League Championship and earning their first NCAA Tournament berth since 2005. The team finished the season with a 9-7-3 overall record and a 4-3-2 mark in conference play, securing a second-place finish in the regular season standings. RMU advanced through the Horizon League tournament, first defeating Milwaukee 1-0 on a goal by
Chase Gilley and then downing Oakland 1-0 in the final on a wonder strike from defender
Victor Thompson. Goalkeeper
Josh Lane was a standout in the tournament, recording a shutout in both games, the first to do so in the Horizon League playoffs since 2015.
KEY RETURNERS TO WATCH
RMU's roster features a strong group of returning players poised to make a significant impact this season.
- Forwards: Senior Kosi Udeh returns after a strong 2024 campaign in which he scored five goals and two assists. He was particularly clutch at the end of the regular season, scoring a goal in four straight conference contests.
- Midfield: Senior Anass Hadran returns from Beni Mallai, Morocco. This past season, he produced four goals and seven assists (15 points), which ranked him tied for first in the conference in assists and seventh in total points. He was named to the All-Horizon League Third Team in 2024 and the Second Team in 2023.
- Defense: The backline will be led by senior captain Fabian Overkamp, a German native who had a standout junior year, helping lead the Colonials to two shutouts in the conference tournament. Overkamp was named an All-League Second Team player and earned a spot on the All-Tournament Team. Senior Victor Koah, an All-Freshman Team honoree in 2022, also returns on the backline.
- Goalkeeper: Junior captain Josh Lane enters his junior year with high expectations. The United Soccer Coaches named him to the Goalkeepers to Watch List in the preseason. He was honored with numerous accolades in 2024, including United Soccer Coaches All-North Region Third Team, Horizon League All-League Second Team, and All-Tournament Team. He started all 19 games, recording 52 saves with six clean sheets.
