Colonials Close Out Homestand Against IU Indy

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU women's basketball team will close out its three-game homestand with a matchup against IU Indy on Thursday night at the UPMC Events Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on SportsNet Pittsburgh and ESPN+ for fans to watch. Live stats will be available on SIDEARM.
 
RMU LATELY
Over their last three contests, the Colonials have gone 1-3, picking up a win against Purdue Fort Wayne at home while dropping matches against Green Bay and Northern Kentucky.

Against Green Bay last Sunday, the Colonials fell 64-43 on the road. In the loss, Noa Givon led the Colonials with 13 points in 23 minutes. Givon went 5-for-9 from the field for 55.6% shooting on the afternoon, while going a perfect 2-for-2 from deep. Myriam Traore was the next highest scorer for the Colonials with seven points while also pulling down a team-high seven rebounds to lead on the glass. RMU was held to just 29.1% shooting from the floor while being outrebounded by the Phoenix 42-35.
 
Returning home from a two-game road trip, the Colonials opened up their first home game of a three-game home stand with a 74-64 win over Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday night. The duo of Aislin Malcolm and Myriam Traore combined for 37 of the Colonials' 74 points. Malcolm had 20 points to lead all scorers while Traore tied a career-high 17 points. The pair combined for six of the team's nine made three-point baskets, with the Colonials going 9-for-18 from deep. Eva Levingston was the third Colonial to score in double-digits, with Levingston picking up 10 on the night. Levingston, along with Jada Lee, led RMU on the glass with both pulling down six rebounds. Lee also recorded a game-high six assists on the night.
 
RMU closed out the week with a loss to Northern Kentucky on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Norse 81-76 at home. Aislin Malcolm picked up her second 20-plus point performance of the week, scoring 23 points on 7-for-15 shooting from the floor and 7-for-8 from the free throw line. Eva Levingston was the other big scorer for the Colonials, tying a career-high with 18 points along with seven rebounds. Ava Leroux made a big impact for the Colonials off the bench, scoring 10 points in 14 minutes played to round out the double-digit scorers for RMU.
 
SCOUTING IU INDY
IU Indy comes into the matchup with a 6-10 overall record and a 2-5 record in Horizon League play. On the road, the Jaguars have struggled, compiling a 0-7 record on the season. Most recently, IU Indy got back in the win column with a 70-59 win over Wright State in The Jungle on Jan. 11. The Jaguars controlled the game early and finished out strong in the win with Olivia Smith leading the way with 16 points while Ariana Williams recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
 
Neveah Foster currently leads IU Indy with 12.3 points per game, followed by the Smith twins, Hailey and Olivia, who are each averaging over nine points per game. On the glass, Hailey Smith leads the Jaguars with 6.1 rebounds per game and 97 on the season. IU Indy's offense is ranked seventh in the Horizon League, just ahead of RMU, while its defense is also ranked seventh, with the Jaguars giving up 67.4 points per game.
 
The Jaguars are led by Kate Bruce, who is in her fourth year as the head coach of IU Indy. Bruce was named to the helm in May 2022, and after two seasons at IU Indy was named Indianapolis Business Journal Forty under Forty for her success on the court and her presence in the Indianapolis community. In four years, Bruce has led the Jaguars to a 39-67 record (.368).
 
RMU AND IU INDY HISTORY
This Thursday's matchup between RMU and IU Indy will be the 12th meeting for the pair dating back to 2021. IU Indy currently holds an 8-3 advantage in the series over RMU. The Colonials won the last matchup over IU Indy, beating the Jaguars 61-58 at the UPMC Events Center back on Feb. 13, 2025. Noa Givon led the Colonials with 14 points in the match.
 
On the road, IU Indy is 5-0 against RMU, while the Colonials are 3-3 at home against the Jaguars. In the last five matchups, IU Indy has won three out of the five over RMU.
