BOSTON – RMU women's hockey goaltender
Maggie Hatch was named the Atlantic Hockey America (AHA) Goaltender of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
The honor marks Hatch's second weekly award of the season and the fifth of her career, following another standout weekend in net for the Colonials during their series at Syracuse.
Hatch opened the weekend with a dominant shutout performance Friday, turning aside all 36 shots she faced to lead RMU to a 1-0 victory. The shutout was her third of the season—setting a new season high for the junior netminder—and the sixth of her career.
She followed that effort with an even busier night in Saturday's series finale, making a season-high 42 saves in regulation and overtime. Hatch then stopped all three Syracuse attempts in the shootout, securing the extra point and helping RMU earn five of six points on the weekend.
On the season, the Cleveland Heights, Ohio native owns a .925 save percentage, a 2.35 goals-against average and three shutouts—all of which rank second in the AHA. She also reached another major milestone Friday night, recording the 2,000th save of her career, becoming just the third goaltender in program history to accomplish the feat.
Hatch now has 22 career wins to go along with a .918 career save percentage as she continues to climb the program's all-time leaderboard.
The Colonials now have seven AHA weekly awards this year:
