Men's Hockey Starts Four-Game Road Swing at RIT

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The RMU men's hockey team opens a pivotal four-game road swing with a two-game Atlantic Hockey America series at RIT. The opener is set for Friday, January 9 at 7:00 PM, followed by the series finale on Saturday, January 10 at 5:00 PM. Friday night's contest will air on SportsNet Pittsburgh, while Saturday's game will be on SportsNet Pittsburgh+. Both games will also stream live on FloHockey.
 
RMU LATELY
RMU (4-12-2, 4-5-1 AHA) enters the weekend coming off a series loss to Sacred Heart. In the two games, Tanner Klimpke scored twice, while Connor Gourley netted his first goal of the season. Luca Primerano, Michael Craig and Braden Rourke each chipped in an assist. At the midpoint of the conference schedule, the Colonials sit seventh in the AHA standings with 14 league points.
 
Through 18 games, Klimpke leads RMU in both goals (6) and points (12). Junior Jackson Reineke has also found the back of the net six times, while freshman Bruce McDonald paces the team with eight assists. On the defensive end, freshman John Babcock leads the Colonials with 35 blocked shots. Between the pipes, freshman Charlie Schenkel has made 16 starts, earning four wins while posting a .892 save percentage.
 
CAPTAIN CRAIG
Junior captain Michael Craig closed out December in strong fashion, earning Atlantic Hockey America Defenseman of the Month honors. Craig led all conference defensemen with three assists over three games during the month. That production helped extend his point streak to five games to close out 2025, during which he recorded two goals and four assists.
 
ALL-TIME VS. RIT
RIT holds a 28-17-6 edge in the all-time series. Earlier this season in Moon Township, the Tigers swept the Colonials in a tightly contested series, earning 3-2 and 2-1 victories. Klimpke, George Krotiris and Greg Japchen scored for RMU in the series, while Dario Beljo, Ryan Taylor and Michael Felsing each recorded an assist.
 
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
RIT (11-9-0, 7-5-0 AHA) enters the weekend third in the AHA standings with 22 conference points. The Tigers are coming off a home-and-home series against Penn State, where they earned a 1-0 shutout victory before dropping the finale, 7-3.
 
Freshman forward Evan Konyen leads RIT offensively with seven goals, while sophomore defenseman Tristan Allen tops the team with nine assists. Junior forward Christian Catalano leads the Tigers with 13 points overall and two power play goals. Defensively, sophomore Ryan Williams boasts a team-best +10 plus/minus rating, and junior defenseman Kevin Scott leads the squad with 26 blocked shots.In goal, sophomore Jakub Krbecek has started 18 games and owns 11 wins to go along with a .930 save percentage.
 
As a team, RIT is averaging 2.6 goals per game while allowing 2.4. The Tigers' power play has operated at 8.6 percent, but their penalty kill has been a strength at 88.9 percent. RIT has also been nearly even in the faceoff circle, winning 49.9 percent of its draws.
 
UP NEXT
RMU will continue its road swing next weekend with a two-game series at Army. The opener is scheduled for Friday, January 16 at 7:00 PM, followed by the finale on Saturday, January 17 at 4:00 PM. Both games will stream live on FloHockey.
