Colonials Head to Motor City for Matchup with Detroit Mercy

MOON TOWNSHIP – Robert Morris is on the road for a two-game road stretch, starting with a matchup against Detroit Mercy on Thursday night at Calihan Hall. The matchup is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN+. Live statistics will be available through SIDEARM.
 
RMU LATELY
The Colonials (16-10, 9-8 HL) are heading to Detroit on a two-game skid, dropping their last two matchups against Horizon League opponents.

RMU faced off with Youngstown State and Cleveland State last week, with the Colonials falling to YSU on Wednesday night, 69-62, in overtime before returning home on Saturday afternoon for a matchup with the Vikings, in which the Colonials lost 57-52.
 
Statistically, the Colonials averaged 57.0 PPG last week while shooting 39.4% from the floor, going 43-109. Myriam Traore led the way for RMU, averaging 18.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game. Traore also went 50% from the floor, shooting 13-for-26 while also knocking down three 3-point baskets. On the glass, Eva Levingston averaged 8.0 rebounds per game along with 7.0 points. As a team, RMU averaged 35.0 rebounds while opponents averaged 37.5.
 
RMU AND UDM HISTORY
The pair will meet for the 11th time since 2021, with Detroit Mercy winning the all-time series 6-4 while RMU enters the match on a two-game win streak against the Titans. On the road, the Colonials are 2-3, with their last road win coming last season as RMU defeated the Titans 77-64 at Calihan Hall on Jan. 25, 2025.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
The pair met earlier this season in Moon Township, with RMU walking away with a 60-52 win in its conference home opener on Dec. 16. In the win, five Colonials scored in double-digits, with Myriam Traore leading the way with 13 points. Aislin Malcolm was second on the team with 11 points, along with six rebounds and five assists. Noa Givon and Bailey Kuhns each had 10 points to round out the major scorers, while Givon pulled down a season-high nine boards to lead the Colonials on the glass.
 
In the contest, RMU shots 44.4%, going 24-for-54 from the floor, while Detroit Mercy shot 31.1% from the floor and was led by Myonna Hooper with 13 points and Makayla Jackson with 12. The Colonials dominated on the glass, out-rebounding the Titans 44-33.
 
SCOUTING DETROIT MERCY
The Titans sit at 5-20 overall and 3-13 in conference play, and currently have lost their last two, dropping matches to Wright State (78-61) and Purdue Fort Wayne (84-68).
 
Detroit Mercy currently sits at 9th in the conference, averaging 62.6 points per game, led by Makayla Jackson with 11.2 and Jasmine Edwards with 11.0. The pair is ranked 17th and 18th in the conference in scoring. The Titans' offense is shooting 39.2% on the season. On defense, the Titans have struggled, allowing opponents to average 73.5 points per game, which is the most in the league. On the glass, Detroit Mercy is led by Edwards, who is third in the conference with 8.2 rebounds per game.
 
Kiefer Haffey is in his first year at the Helm of the Detroit Mercy women's basketball team, and in his first season so far, the Titans have posted a 5-20 overall record. Haffey has a career record of 66-78 after also spending four seasons as the head coach of Concordia (MI) where he posted a 61-58 record.
