Colonials Gear up for Round Two Against the Golden Grizzlies

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Colonials will conclude their two-game road stretch with a rematch against the Oakland Golden Grizzlies on Saturday afternoon. RMU will take on Oakland at the OU Credit Union O'rena with tip-off scheduled for 2:00 p.m. The game will be streamed live on ESPN+.

RMU LATELY
The Colonials secured their 10th Horizon League victory this season, defeating Detroit Mercy 66-55 on the road on Thursday night, moving to 17-10 overall and 10-8 in the conference.

In the win, Myriam Traore and Eva Levingston scored 43 of RMU's points, controlling the offensive attack for the Colonials. Traore scored a game-high 22 points to tie her career-high, while Levingston set a new career-high with 21 points, along with 10 rebounds for Levingston's second double-double in a row.  The Colonials outshot Detroit Mercy, shooting 41.1% from the floor while the Titans shot 32.8%. RMU also dominated the glass with a 47-37 advantage over the Titans.

RMU continues to lead the conference in multiple statistical categories, including team free-throw percentage (77.5%), combined team rebounds (39.0 RPG), rebounding margin (5.6), and team defensive rebounds (28.4). In national rankings, the Colonials remain in the top-25 in the country in free-throw percentage, with RMU ranked 21st across Division I teams.

RMU AND OAK HISTORY
The Colonials and the Golden Grizzlies are facing off for the 12th time since 2021, with Oakland winning the all-time series 8-3. On the road, the Colonials have picked up just one road win against the Grizzlies, which came last January when RMU defeated Oakland 73-63 in Rochester, Michigan. The Colonials are just 1-5 on the road while 2-3 at home.

LAST TIMEOUT
The pair met earlier this season in Moon Township with the Golden Grizzlies pulling off a narrow 61-58 win at the UPMC Events Center. Despite the Colonials leading 58-50 with 4:41 on the clock in the fourth quarter, an 11-0 run by Oakland flipped the script as a layup by Oakland's Makenzie Luhering with 15 seconds on the clock put Oakland up 59-58 before a pair of made free throws sealed the contest for the Golden Grizzlies.

For RMU, Bailey Kuhns had a huge night down low, recording a double-double with a team and game-high 23 points and 12 rebounds. Noa Givon was the only other Colonial to score in double-digits, with Givon dropping 10 in the loss. On the glass, Traore provided 11 rebounds to go along with Kuhn's 12. The Colonials dominated the glass, holding a 47-30 advantage over the Golden Grizzlies. For Oakland, Makenzie Luehring led the Golden Grizzlies with 17 points and eight assists.

SCOUTING OAKLAND
Oakland will defend the OU Credit Union O'rena with a 9-18 overall record and a 6-11 mark in league play following a big 71-64 win at Purdue Fort Wayne on Wednesday night. In the win, Makenzie Luehring led Oakland with a near triple-double, recording 17 points and a season-high total of nine assists and nine rebounds. Lianna Baxter recorded a double-double with 10 points and 14 rebounds while Sereniti Roberts-Adams set a new career-high with 16 points.
Oakland's offense is ranked 9th in the conference, just behind RMU, with the Golden Grizzlies averaging 63.1 points per game, led by Luehring, who is sixth in the conference in scoring with 14.1 points per game. Luehring is also ranked third in the conference in assists (3.5 APG) and fourth in free-throw percentage (.814). Defensively, the Golden Grizzlies are ranked 10th, allowing opponents to average 70.7 points per game.
