Maggy Burbidge Signs Contract with the Ottawa Charge

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU women's hockey alum Maggy Burbidge has signed a professional contract with the Ottawa Charge of the Professional Women's Hockey League (PWHL), the team announced today.
 
With the signing, Burbidge joins Raygan Kirk (Toronto) and Marah Wagner (Seattle) as former Colonials currently competing in the PWHL.
 
A native of Falmouth, Nova Scotia, Burbidge skated for RMU during the 2019-21 seasons, appearing in 60 career games for the Colonials. Over her two-year career, she totaled 16 goals and 14 assists for 30 points.
 
During her freshman campaign, Burbidge made an immediate impact, leading all conference freshmen with seven goals while adding three game-winning tallies. Her strong debut season earned her a spot on the CHA All-Rookie Team. As a sophomore, she played a key role in helping guide RMU to its third CHA Tournament Championship and second NCAA Tournament appearance.
 
Prior to signing with Ottawa, Burbidge competed in her first professional season overseas in the Swiss Women's Hockey League (SWHL) with the HC Fribourg-Gottéron Ladies, where she also served as an alternate captain.
 
In 28 games with Fribourg-Gottéron, Burbidge posted an impressive 17 goals and 17 assists for 34 points, leading the team in scoring.
 
"We're incredibly proud of Maggy and everything she's accomplished," said head coach Logan Bittle. "She's earned this opportunity through her work ethic and competitiveness, and her success in the Swiss League showed she's ready for the next step. We're excited to watch her compete in the PWHL."
