Colonials Come Home for Thursday Morning Matchup Against Green Bay

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Horizon League action is returning to the UPMC Events Center as the RMU women's basketball team prepares for a two-game home stretch that will begin on Thursday morning as the Colonials host Green Bay. Tip-off is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. and will be a Kids Game. The contest will be streamed live on ESPN+, and live stats can be followed through SIDEARM.
 
RMU LATELY
The Colonials are coming off a 1-1 week, falling to Purdue Fort Wayne early last week before picking up their first-ever road win against IU Indy on Sunday afternoon. RMU will come into the matchup against Green Bay with a 15-7 overall record and an 8-5 mark in conference play.
 
At Purdue Fort Wayne, despite leading going into the fourth quarter, RMU fell to Purdue Fort Wayne 60-46 after a big 23-point quarter by the Mastodons back on Tuesday night. In the contest, Eva Levingston (13) and Myriam Traore (12) led the Colonial offense as well as on the glass, with Traore pulling down a team-high seven rebounds while Levingston recorded six. On the night, the Colonials shot 32.8% while the Mastodons shot 45.8% at home.
 
On Sunday, the Colonials got back in the win column with a hard-fought 76-71 win over the IU Indy Jaguars in Indianapolis. The win marked the Colonials first ever road win against the Jaguars. Ava Leroux posted a career high 21 points to lead the Colonials as Leroux was a perfect 7-for-7 from both the field and the free throw line. Bailey Kuhns recorded a 20-point performance to combine with Leroux for 41 of the Colonials' 76 points. Aislin Malcolm was the third highest scorer for the Colonials with 13 points, along with four rebounds and three assists. Myriam Traore and Jada Lee both pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
 
RMU AND GREEN BAY HISTORY
This will be the 11th meeting between the pairs with Green Bay holding a perfect 10-0 record over the Colonials. At home, RMU has been 0-4 against the Phoenix and 0-5 on the road. The Colonials also dropped a neutral game against Green Bay last season in the Barbasol Horizon League Basketball Championship semifinal in Indianapolis.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
The pair met earlier this season with Green Bay securing a 64-43 win over the Colonials at home back on Jan. 4. Coming off the bench, Noa Givon led the Colonials with 13 points in 23 minutes. Givon went 5-for-9 from the field for 55.6% shooting, while going 2-for-2 from beyond the arc. Myriam Traore was the next highest scorer for the Colonials with seven points while also pulling down a team-high seven rebounds to lead RMU on the glass.
 
On the afternoon, the Colonials were held to just 29.1% shooting from the floor, going 16-for-55, while Green Bay shot 38.6% on 22-for-57 shooting. RMU was beaten on the glass 42-35.
 
SCOUTING GREEN BAY
The Phoenix have been unstoppable in Horizon League action this season, posting a perfect 13-0 record in Horizon League play and an 18-5 overall record. Green Bay comes into the contest on a 10-game win streak and has posted a 7-3 road record so far this season. The Phoenix offense is ranked third in the conference, averaging 68.3 points per game, led by Jenna Guyer, who is third in the conference with 14.7 points per game. Guyer also leads Green Bay on the glass, averaging 6.2 rebounds, which is ranked seventh in the conference.
 
Most recently, Green Bay secured a 66-52 win at home over Wright State back on Thursday night. In the win, both Jenna Guyer and Maddy Skorupski each recorded double-doubles to lead Green Bay. Guyer has now had back-to-back double-doubles for the Phoenix. Guyer recorded 20 points and 10 rebounds in the win, while Skorpuski chipped in with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
 
Green Bay is led by head coach Kayla Karius who is in her second season at the helm of the Phoenix. Karius has posted a 47-11 record while at Green Bay and has a career record of 84-40 (.667)
