RMU Women's Basketball Welcomes Milwaukee to Moon Township

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Colonials will finish off their two-game homestand on Saturday afternoon with a matchup against the Milwaukee Panthers at the UPMC Events Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m., and the game will be streamed on ESPN+.
 
RMU LATELY
RMU is currently sitting at a 15-8 overall record and an 8-6 record in Horizon League play following a heartbreaking loss to conference leader Green Bay on Thursday morning in Moon Township.
 
Against the Phoenix, a buzzer-beater three by Green Bay's Kamy Peppler gave the Phoenix a 61-58 win over the Colonials. The Colonials had three players score in double-digits, with Bailey Kuhns leading the way with a near double-double of 18 points and a team-leading nine rebounds. Myriam Traore was the next highest scorer with 16 points, which featured three made three-point baskets. Traore also recorded six rebounds and two blocks. Aislin Malcolm rounded out the double-digit scorers with 15 points along with six rebounds, two assists, and one steal.
 
In the contest, the Colonials shot 32.2%, going 19-for-59 from the floor and 31.7% from deep, hitting 7-of-22. The Colonials had 27 second-chance points in the loss. On the glass, RMU held a 45-39 advantage, picking up 17 offensive rebounds and 28 defensive rebounds.
 
Before Thursday's game, the Colonials picked up their first-ever road win at IU Indy on Sunday afternoon, beating the Jaguars 76-71 in Indianapolis. In the matchup, Ava Leroux scored a career-high 21 points while Bailey Kuhns recorded 20 to lead RMU in the win. Leroux was a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor and 7-for-7 from the free throw line.
 
RMU AND MIL HISTORY
The pair is slated to face off for the 13th time, with the Colonials coming into the game on a three-game winning streak over Milwaukee despite the Panthers winning the all-time series 8-4. At home against the Panthers, the Colonials are 2-2 with RMU's last home win coming back on Dec. 7, 2024, with a final score of 56-55.
 
LAST TIMEOUT
RMU and Milwaukee met back on Jan. 2 in Milwaukee with the Colonials securing a 62-52 win to open up the new year. In the contest, Myriam Traore recorded a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds while Aislin Malcolm led all scorers with 18 on the night. As a team, the Colonials shot 38.9% from the floor, going 21-for-54.
 
For Milwaukee, Jorey Buwalda led the Panthers with 10 points along with five rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Milwaukee shot 35.2%, going 19-for-54. The Panthers recorded 16 points in the paint and 12 second-chance points.
 
SCOUTING MILWAUKEE
Milwaukee will head to Moon Township with an 8-17 overall record and a 4-10 mark in the Horizon League after dropping a road contest to Youngstown State on Thursday afternoon in Ohio, falling 79-48. In the contest, Milwaukee was led by Cece McNair, who tallied a career-best 11 points on 5-of-7 shooting.
 
The Milwaukee offense is currently ranked 11th in the conference, averaging just 60.4 points per game, led by Jorey Buwalda, who is ranked eighth in the league with 12.5 points per game. Defensively, the Panthers are in the middle of the pack, allowing teams to score 66.9 points per game. On the glass, Milwaukee is seventh in the league, averaging 35.5 rebounds per game, with Buwalda leading the conference with 9.0 rebounds per game for a near double-double average.
 
The Panthers are led by head coach Kyle Rechlicz, who has been at the helm of the Milwaukee women's basketball team for the last 14 seasons. At Milwaukee, Rechlicz has a career record of 196-230 and a win percentage of .460.
