Box Score

Columbus, Ohio - The Robert Morris University field hockey team fell to Ohio State on Wednesday afternoon in a 6-0 contest.  The loss prolongs the Colonials' losing streak to six games after a opening the season winning three of their first four games.

Looking to win their second-ever game over a ranked opponent, the Colonials held the Buckeyes' offense in check for the first ten minutes with sophomore Erin McKenzie (Lismore, Australia / University of Queensland Tech) looking for her first win of the season.

In the 12th minute, Ohio State took the lead on a pass cross-crease.  In a span of five minutes, the Buckeyes would net two more goals; the former came on another cross-crease pass and the latter came from a rebound allowed by McKenzie.  The Colonials managed to fire two shots, but neither were registered on net.

The second half saw the Colonials allow three more goals as they switched goaltenders.  The fourth Ohio State goal came in the 45th minute as a shot from the top of the circle found its way past McKenzie.  After that goal, head coach Olivia Netzler put in senior goalkeeper Paige Neat (Louisville, Ky. / Christian Academy) for the remainder of the game.  Ten minutes later, Ohio State forward Berta Queralt completed her hat-trick on the day as she gathered a loose ball in front of Neat.  The final goal came with less than two minutes remaining in the match as a shot found the far right post past the keeper.

With the loss, McKenzie falls to 0-5 on the season after earning a school-high seven wins in the 2011 season.

The Colonials will have a week of practice before they take the field again.  The team will travel to State College, Pa. for a neutral site game against the University of California at 5:00 p.m.
