Freshman pitcher Kaitlin Ellzy of the softball team earns her second Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week of the 2016 spring campaign. Ellzy, a native of Cadiz, Ohio, knocked off another Big 10 opponent by holding Penn State (3/23) to three hits in a 3-1 victory. She also struck out three in the win. She also came on in relief in the second game of the doubleheader against the Nittany Lions, pitching 3.1 innings and giving up three hits while striking out a pair. For her efforts, Ellzy was named both the Northeast Conference Pitcher of the Week and Rookie of the Week (3/28). Ellzy owns a record of 7-10 from the circle so far this season with an earned run average (ERA) of 3.25.
