Redshirt senior Steve Mitchell of the track & field squad earns the Higher Images RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week for Dec. 11, 2013. A native of Pittsburgh, Pa., Mitchell opened the 2013-14 campaign in stellar fashion last weekend at the YSU Icebreaker in Youngstown, Ohio, qualifying for the IC4A/ECAC Championships in the shot put. Thanks to a heave of 16.92 meters (55’6.25”), Mitchell established a personal record and finished second in the event at the YSU Icebreaker. He also placed second in the weight throw at the YSU Icebreaker, posting a final tally of 16.99 meters (55’9”). For his efforts, Mitchell was tabbed the first Northeast Conference Field Athlete of the Week of the 2013-14 indoor season Tuesday.
