Named the Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 13, 2017, is junior defensive specialist Allie Yurkovich of the volleyball squad. In a 2-1 week for Robert Morris at the Valley Forge Sports Invitational in Philadelphia, Pa., Yurkovich was a consistent presence for the Colonials as a libero, averaging 16.7 digs per game while also recording seven assists and five service aces. In a 3-0 sweep of Siena (9/8), Yurkovich, a native of Jefferson Hills, Pa., compiled three assists, two service aces and 11 digs. In a five-set victory over the host Explorers that gave RMU a winning record in the tournament, Yurkovich tied a career high with 22 digs while also posting three assists and a pair of service aces. On the 2017 campaign, Yurkovich leads Robert Morris with 168 digs, an average of 3.82 per set that ranks sixth in the Northeast Conference.
