Selected as the Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week for Sept. 27, 2017, is freshman middle blocker Maria Alfano of the volleyball squad. In a 3-1 victory @ Saint Francis U (9/22) to open the 2017 Northeast Conference slate for the Colonials, Alfano, a native of Cranberry Township, Pa., finished with a team-high 14 kills against just two errors in 34 total attempts for an attack percentage of .353. She also posted two assists, a dig and two block assists. In 52 sets for Robert Morris in 2017, Alfano has compiled 104 kills (2.00 per set) and a .298 attack percentage while ranking second for the Colonials in blocks with 26.
