Selected as one of two Giant Eagle RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week honorees for April 11, 2018, is freshman Hanne Claus of the track & field team. At the Vertklasse Meeting last weekend, hosted by High Point University, Claus shattered the school record in the 200-meter dash, claiming bronze in the event with a time of 24.75 seconds. In the event, she trailed only a pair of seniors in Ama-Selina Tchume of the Virginia Tech (24.15) and Akia Morris of North Carolina Central (24.52). Claus, a native of Ardooie, Belgium, broke a record that had stood for almost 20 years. The old mark of 25.30 seconds was set April 25, 1998, at Baldwin Wallace by former standout Tiphani McKee.
