Freshman goaltender Dalton Izyk of the hockey team garners the Higher Images RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week honor for March 19, 2014, after a stellar performance in between the pipes in helping lead the Colonials to the semifinals of the 2014 Atlantic Hockey Association (AHA) Tournament with a road sweep of Connecticut last weekend. In the two games, Izyk yielded just a pair of goals while recording 69 saves, compiling a 1.00 goals against average and a save percentage of .972. In the first game of the series with the Huskies in Storrs, Conn., Izyk registered his first career shutout, turning away all 33 shots he faced in a 3-0 victory. The following day, Izyk posted 36 saves, including 16 in the third period as RMU protected a one-goal advantage, in a 3-2 win. So far in the 2014 AHA Tournament, Izyk is 3-0 with an 0.77 goals against average and a .977 save percentage, allowing just a pair of goals while recording 84 saves. He is a native of Oswego, N.Y.
