Senior Estelle Katende from the track & field team has been selected as one of two Chick-Fil-A Robinson RMU Female Student-Athlete of the Week honorees for March 3, 2021. At the 2021 Horizon League Indoor Track & Field Championships last weekend in Fort Wayne, Ind., Katende won the fourth conference championship of her career but first in the Horizon League. On her third attempt of the evening in the shot put Friday night at the Lutheran Health Fieldhouse, Katende, a native of Valbonne, France, posted a throw of 14.64 meters (48’0.50”) to help her claim the title. The distance ranks second in school history, trailing only her own school record of 15.16 meters (49’9”) at the 2019 Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships. Katende, an engineering major who has compiled an overall grade point average of 3.32, owns three conference championships in the shot put and one in the discus.
