Earning the Chick-fil-A Robinson RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week for March 16, 2022, is senior forward Kahliel Spear of the men’s basketball team. Spear, a native of The Colony, Texas, became the first RMU basketball student-athlete of either gender to be named an Academic All-American, as he garnered second team honors from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). An economics major who has maintained a 3.92 cumulative grade point average while studying economics, Spear is the ninth male in athletic department as well as the 15th different student-athlete since 2004 to earn Academic All-America® status. During the 2021-22 season, Spear, named to both the 2022 #HLMBB Third Team and the 2022 Horizon League All-Academic Team, paced the Colonials in both scoring (14.7 ppg) and rebounding (7.7 rpg) while leading the league in field goal percentage (.551). He has been honored with the Chick-fil-A Robinson RMU Male Student-Athlete of the Week seven times this winter.
