Klabnik?s Second Half Goal Lifts RMU Over Bobcats, 2-1

Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's soccer team tightened their hold on a potential berth in the Northeast Conference Tournament following a 2-1 win over Quinnipiac Friday afternoon. Junior Ryan Zabinski (New Cumberland, Pa. / Cedar Cliff) had a goal and an assist while senior back Mark Klabnik's (Butler, Pa. / Knoch) first goal of the season was the gamewinner.

The win improves Robert Morris to 8-6-4 and 3-2-3 in the NEC. The Colonials stand three points ahead of fifth-place Sacred Heart who take on first-place Monmouth on Sunday. RMU will need at least one point in Sunday's game against Central Conn. State at North Athletic Complex ? where the Colonials are 6-0-2 this season ? to clinch a playoff berth.

Robert Morris got on the board first in the 22nd minute on Zabinski's fourth goal of the season. The junior midfielder struck a left-footed shot from 25 yards out into the upper right corner of the net for the game's first marker.

Quinnipiac struck back quickly. Francis Mavula got his head on free kick played into the box by Anthony Patierno and redirected the ball to the left corner of the net just 1:24 after the RMU score.

Klabnik's first goal of the season was the difference maker coming in the 68th minute. His low shot from 35-yards away from goal skipped across the soaked field and glanced off of Bobcat goalie Paul Fleck's right arm and into the net for the goal. Zabinski earned the assist.

Sophomore goalkeeper Matt Felice (Missisaugua, Ontario / Phillip Pocock) finished with five saves and Fleck tallied four.
