Pilato Named NEC Women's Soccer Player of the Week

Moon Township, Pa. - Senior midfielder Christina Pilato (Grimsby, Ontario / Grimsby Secondary), a member of the Robert Morris University women's soccer team, was named the Northeast Conference Player of the Week. The senior tallied a goal and an assist as the Colonials opened the 2006 season with a 3-1 win over Youngstown State on Friday afternoon.

Pilato, who earned the honor for the first time, picked up a goal and an assist as Robert Morris won its season opener for the second straight year with a 3-1 win over Youngstown State. She assisted on the game-winning goal as she pushed a through-ball ahead to Daneen Stevenato (North York, Ontario / Newtonbrook) in the 62nd minute. Pilato's tally with 12 minutes to play iced the game, giving the Colonials a two-goal cushion. With her three-point performance, the Grimsby, Ontario native matched her point total from the 2005 season.

Robert Morris looks to add to the win column when it travels to the Villanova Tournament Friday, September 1, for a 1:00 p.m. meeting against Colgate.
