MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU women's soccer goalkeeper
Emma Cameron has been selected as the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon. She was instrumental in the Colonials' first league victory of the season, a 1-0 triumph over Detroit Mercy.
Cameron turned in a commanding performance between the posts, recording her third career clean sheet while earning her third win at RMU. She finished the contest with a perfect six saves on six shots faced, anchoring a defensive unit that kept Detroit Mercy off the scoreboard for the full 90 minutes.
Her impact was most evident in the closing stages, when Detroit Mercy pushed numbers forward in search of an equalizer. Cameron came up with four crucial saves in the final 10 minutes, to preserve the shutout and secure three points in Horizon League play.
The weekly honor marks the first of Cameron's collegiate career and the second of the season for the Colonials, following senior defender
Jillian Marvin's recognition earlier this month.
RMU currently sits at 3-5-2 overall and 1-1-1 in Horizon League action. The Colonials now turn their attention to a road matchup at Northern Kentucky, with kickoff slated for Saturday, October 4 at 1:00 PM.
