Robert Morris University volleyball team concluded the Dartmouth Tournament by losing to Harvard (7-5), 3-2 (17-30, 28-30, 30-20, 34-32, 15-13), and Dartmouth (6-6), 3-1 (30-23, 30-15, 27-30, 30-19), Saturday afternoon. The pair of losses drops the Colonials to 8-11 on the season.
In match one of the afternoon, junior setter Tawyna Storino (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Baldwin) recorded her second double-double of the tournament. She tallied 45 assists, 18 digs, seven kills, three service aces and two block assists.
The Colonials offense was led by junior middle blocker / outside hitter Emily Wolthuis (Byron Center, Mich. / South Christian). Wolthuis tallied 16 kills, 13 digs, five service aces and three block assists. Junior outside hitter Jennifer Stambaugh (Union Bridge, Md. / Francis Scott Key) tallied 13 kills, while senior middle blocker Janette Schneider (Leetsdale, Pa. / Quaker Valley) finished with 12 kills, seven digs, six total blocks, two service aces and one assist.
The second match of the day saw Schneider tally 17 kills, five digs and three total blocks. Wolthuis and Lee both finished with 12 kills. Wolthuis also tallied three block assists and three digs, while Lee recorded three digs.
Storino finished with a match high 48 assists, along with four digs, three kills and one block. Sophomore Alaina Gibson (Muncie, Ind. / Muncie Burris) led the defense with a team high 14 digs.
The Colonials return to action Wednesday, October 4, when they travel to Morgantown, W. Va. to take on West Virginia. The match is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m.
