INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Senior setter
Kaitlyn Brown and redshirt junior defensive specialist/libero
Jasmine Purakal were named to the 2025 Valeo #HLVB All-Academic Team, the Horizon League announced Tuesday afternoon.
To qualify for the All-Academic Team, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20, participate in a minimum of 50% of their team's games, and be in at least their second year at their institution. Ties are not broken, though any student-athlete receiving at least 25% of the vote receives Honorable Mention.
Brown, a senior from Springboro, Ohio, will be graduating from RMU with a degree in Actuarial Science and currently has a 3.8 GPA. Brown was named CoSIDA Academic All-District in 2024 and is a member of the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll. Brown finished the season with 981 assists, averaging 8.84 per set, while recently eclipsing the 2,000-career assist mark this season. Against Milwaukee, Brown set a new career-high in assists with 65 on Nov. 7.
Purakal, a redshirt junior from Brampton, Ontario, is currently studying health science at RMU with a 3.71 GPA. The defensive specialist/libero currently leads the Horizon League in digs, averaging 5.90 per set in conference play and 5.24 per set overall. This season Purakal recorded 582 digs to lead the Colonials. Statistically, Purakal also recorded 105 assists and 20 service aces in 108 sets played for the Colonials this season. Jasmine earned Horizon League POW honors back on Sept. 22
