MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – RMU volleyball had three student-athletes named to the 2025 CSC Volleyball Academic All-District Team, as announced Tuesday by College Sports Communicators.

Kaitlyn Brown (Actuarial Science), redshirt junior defensive specialist/libero
Jasmine Purakal (Health Science), and sophomore middle blocker
Keira Hornung (Biology) earned recognition from the CSC by being selected to the 2025 CSC Volleyball Academic All-District Team.
To be eligible for CSC Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.50 on a 4.00 scale, and compete in at least 90 percent of the institution's matches or start at least 66 percent of contests.
The 2025-26 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Brown, an Actuarial Science major with a 3.8 GPA, had a great season for the Colonials with 981 assists on the season and has now recorded 2,146 assists in a RMU uniform, which is now eighth all-time in school history. Most recently, Brown was also named to the 2025 Valeo #HLVB All-Academic Team and is a member of the Horizon League Academic Honor Roll. Brown earned COSIDA Academic Honors last season as well.
Purakal, a Health Science major with a 3.71 GPA, pulled in multiple awards this season for her performance as a libero/defensive specialist. Purakal was named the #HLVB Defensive Player of the Year while also picking up All-League First Team honors. Purakal notched 582 digs on the season, which is the third best for a Colonial in a single season. She was also named to the 2025 Valeo #HLVB All-Academic Team.
Hornung, a Biology major with a 3.65 GPA, earned her first CSC All-Academic District Team selection after leading the Horizon League with 1.17 blocks per set. Hornung recorded 95 blocks for the season and now has 104 blocks in two years as a Colonial. She also chipped in with 81 kills on the season.
Jasmine Purakal was selected as a CSC Academic All-America finalist and will advance to the national ballot to be voted on by CSC Members. First-, second-, and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced on January 13, 2026.
