#14 Towson Defeats Men's Lacrosse, 16-3, in CAA Contest

Box Score Towson, Md. - The Robert Morris University men's lacrosse team dropped below the .500 mark for only the second time this year as the #14 Towson Tigers defeated the Colonials, 16-3, in a Colonial Athletic Association contest this afternoon in Towson, Md.

Sophomore Brandon Johnson (Finksburg, Md. / Westminster) led the offense scoring a goal and an assist while Senior Carlo Sunseri (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Mt. Lebanon) and Sophomore Frank Keel (Fort Defiance, Va. / James W. Robinson) each tallied a goal for the Colonials (3-4, 0-2 CAA).

Junior Brendan Arthur (Kansas City, Mo. / Rockhurst) and Sophomore T.J. Sarnese (Horsham, Pa. / Hatsboro-Horsham) picked up assists in the match.

From what seemed to be a close game in the first two minutes as both teams traded scores turned out to an offensive frenzy for the Tigers. Behind 47-shots and a 14-goal run, Towson built up a 15-1 lead in the first two quarters.

After the halftime break, both teams played a conservative second half. The Tigers were limited to one goal in the final 30 minutes of play while RMU picked up two goals at the end of the third quarter with Sunseri and Keel tallying back-to-back scores 61 seconds apart.

Towson controlled the shots, 63-25, while Robert Morris held the advantage in ground balls, 40-29. Both teams played even on face-offs with Towson going, 12-23, and Robert Morris, 11-23.

All four goalies saw time in the match as Junior Jason Dockum (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Mt. Lebanon) suffered the loss in net, making three saves and allowing eight goals in 14:36. Freshman Sal Barcia (West Islip, N.Y. / West Islip) played tremendously making 14 saves and allowing eight goals in 38:44 while Junior John Kennedy (Rockville Centre, N.Y. / South Side) and Freshman Dan MacNeil (Troy, Mich. / Athens) wrapped things up in final six minutes of the game with Kennedy making two saves.

Robert Morris looks to get back to their winning ways as they travel north next week to face Hofstra on Saturday, April 7, in a Colonial Athletic Association match-up. Game time is set for 1:30 p.m.
