RMU Ninth At Butler Spring Invitational

Indianopolis, Ind. / Prestwick C.C. - The Robert Morris University women's golf team finished ninth at the Butler Spring Invitational hosted by Prestwick Country Club. Tough weather conditions, including raind, snow and hail, accompanied the 10-team event at the 6,290-yard, par-72 layout.

Ball State, led by medalist Kirsty O'Connor, took the team title with a score of 639. Evansville (653) was second followed by Butler (663), Cleveland State (677), Oakland (688), IPFW (693), IUPUI (704), Marian (Ind.) (708), Robert Morris (731) and Wisconsin-Green Bay (784).

Senior Heather Mulvaney (Greenwood, Ind. / Center Grove) and sophomore Ashleigh Frieday (Grand Island, N.Y. / Grand Island) both shot 179, tying for 34th place. Mulvaney posted a 91 and an 88 while Frieday carded an 89 and a 90.

Junior Melanie Ice (Beaver Falls, Pa. / Riverside) posted an 88 and a 92, finishing one stroke back in a tie for 38th at 180. Sophomore Jacqueline Jurinko (McKeesport, Pa. / McKeesport) recovered to shoot 91 following an opening round 102 to finish 53rd with a 193 total. Sophomore Sarah Davis (Wadsworth, Ohio / Wadsworth) took 55th (105-107=212).
