Colonials Down In-State Rival Saint Francis (Pa.), 6-1

Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's tennis team improved to 3-1 in Northeast Conference play Saturday afternoon with a 6-1 win over in-state rival Saint Francis (Pa.). The victory helped the Colonials improve to 6-11 overall on the 2007-08 campaign. 

Robert Morris swept each of the three doubles matches to garner a point, as sophomore David Pinto (Burlington, Ontario / Nelson) and senior Cyrus Manouchehrian (Toronto, Canada / Toronto) teamed up at the No. 1 flight to garner a 9-8 (8-6) victory over Jeff Seevers and Stephan Kowalski.

Teaming up at No. 2 doubles was senior Mateusz Wodzinski (Greenwich, Conn. / Greenwich) and sophomore Sean Curley (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Woodland Hills), who downed Andre Sandu and Jeff Kowalski, 8-4.  

Rounding out the doubles action, senior Nick Paganetti (The Woodlands, Texas / McCullough) and freshman Robert Switzer (Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island / Charlottetown) posted an 8-1 victory over David Kirby and John Angiouni. Paganetti also garnered a win in singles action, defeating Sandu at the No. 1 flight in three sets, 2-6, 6-1 and 6-4.  

Also in singles play RMU claimed victory at the No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5 flights. Wodzinski defeated Angiouni at the No. 2 flight, 6-2 and 6-2, while Pinto posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Stephan Kowalski at No. 3. So far this season Wodzinski owns a perfect record of 3-0 when playing at No. 2 singles. 

Curley garnered a 6-3, 6-4 win over Seevers at the No. 4 flight, followed by Switzer, who claimed his team-high eighth singles victory of the year with a 6-0, 6-2 conquest of Nune at the No. 5 flight. Switzer owns a perfect 4-0 record in NEC play.

Robert Morris closes out its regular season with four matches away from home, beginning with a 3:00 p.m. league match at Mount St. Mary's Thursday, April 3. The Colonials will also visit George Mason Friday, April 4, for a 3:00 p.m. non-conference match.
