Men's Soccer Announces 2009 Schedule

Moon Township, Pa.  ? The Robert Morris University men's soccer team will play a 20-game schedule for the 2009 season as they look to return to the Northeast Conference playoffs for the first time since 2006. The Colonials play 11 home games while traveling as far away as Las Vegas, Nev., over Memorial Day weekend.

The Colonials open the season at home on Aug. 22 against the Robert Morris alumni in an exhibition match. Their first regular season home contest is against cross-town rival Pitt on Sept. 1 with kickoff at 4:00 p.m.

Highlighting the Colonials' non-conference slate is a contest with 2008 NCAA Tournament qualifier UC-Davis (Sept. 4) at the UNLV Tournament. Robert Morris will also take on host UNLV on Sept. 6.

Upon their return, RMU hosts LaSalle and University of Wisconsin-Green Bay in a two-game weekend home stand. The Colonials square off against LaSalle on Friday, Sept. 11, before playing UW-Green Bay Sept. 13.

Robert Morris also takes a northern road trip against two western New York foes. The Colonials clash with the Purple Eagles of Niagara (Sept. 18) and the Canisius College Griffins (Sept. 20) during the weekend trip.

The Colonials return home to take the pitch against Duquesne on Sept. 23 and Buffalo on Sept. 25.

Robert Morris opens its NEC schedule in an away contest against Quinnipiac on Oct. 2. The Colonials square off against 2008 NEC tournament champion Fairleigh Dickinson at home on Oct. 9 at 4:00 p.m., and the four-year defending NEC regular-season champion Monmouth at home on Oct. 23 at 3:30 p.m.

The Colonials will celebrate Senior Day on Nov. 1 by playing Bryant at 1:00 p.m.

Robert Morris closes out the regular season by traveling to take on the Saint Francis (Pa.) Red Flash on Nov. 6.

The Colonials hope to improve upon the 3-14-3 record they posted last season. Head coach Bill Denniston enters his ninth season at the helm for the Colonials and holds a 59-71-24 record at Robert Morris. All home games will be played the North Athletic Complex.
