Las Vegas, Nevada / Johann Field - The Robert Morris University men's soccer team fell to 0-2 on the 2009 season following a 3-0 loss at the hands of University of California-Davis in the first game of the UNLV Nike Tournament Friday. UC Davis improves to 1-1 on the year.
The Aggies controlled much of the play, outshooting the Colonials 17-8 in the game. RMU freshman goalkeeper Nick Barber (Pittsfield, Mass. / Pittsfield) made three saves and allowed three goals in his first career start. Ryan McCowan made five stops for UC Davis.
Rene Cuellar struck first for the Aggies, volleying a shot off a corner kick by Riley Newport in the 38th minute for the only score of the first half.
Julian Godinez' shot from the top of the box in the 69th minute beat Barber making it a 2-0 lead. Jason Santos iced the contest in the 87th minute, finishing off a give-and-go with Chris Leer.
The Colonials take on host UNLV on Sunday, September 6. Kick-off is slated for 4:30 p.m. Eastern, 1:30 p.m. Mountain.
