Teaneck, N.J. / University Field - The Robert Morris University women's soccer team struck first, but could not hold on to the lead in a 2-1 setback in a Northeast Conference contest at Fairleigh Dickinson Friday night. The Colonials have now dropped four consecutive games to slip to 5-9-2 overall and 2-4-1 in league games.
The Colonials got on the board first when senior Jessica Stubbs (Sewickley, Pa. / Avonworth) played a long free kick into the FDU (2-13-0, 2-5-0 NEC) box. After bouncing towards net, junior Jessica Sharik (North Huntingdon, Pa. / Norwin) got her foot on the ball, beating Stephanie Tanzi to give RMU a 1-0 lead in the 28th minute.
Less than six minutes later, the Knights answered. Noelle Harner set Rashidah Sherman in on net with a long ball. Sherman chipped Colonials keeper Jessica Olin (New Port Richey, Fla. / River Ridge) as she charged off her line to knot the score at 1-1.
After halftime, a giveaway at midfield set Sherman loose on another breakaway in the 60th minute. Again she finished, put the cap on a 2-1 Knights victory.
Robert Morris travels to Sacred Heart this Sunday, Oct. 24.
