California, Pa - On Saturday at Adamson Stadium, the Robert Morris University men's track and field team competed in the Western Pa. Intercollegiate Championships on the campus of California University (Pa.). The squad finished fourth overall while ten individuals had top-three finishes.
Junior Dewitt Hudson (Rochester, Pa. / Rochester) set the tone early for RMU as he took first-place in the 110m hurdles with his time of a 15.37.
Freshman distance runner Ben Ingle (Tyrone, Pa. / Tyrone) also captured a first-place finish as he won the Steeplechase in a time of 9:51.15.
Brendan Morales (Westminster, Md. / Westminster) captured the first slot in the shot put with his 14.95m throw. Chuck Thurner-Diaz (Camp Hill, Pa. / Camp Hill) finished immediately behind in second with a 13.78m throw. Thurner-Diaz also took second in the discuss with a 39.06m hurl.
The Colonials took both first and third in the pole vault as Chris Spataro (Gibsonia, Pa. / Pine Richland) won the event with a vault of 4.65m, while Anthony Trunzo (Trafford, Pa. / Penn-Trafford) ended in the third spot with a 4.50m effort.
In the 10,000m run, Michael Patschak (Woodsboro, Md. / Walkersville) took third with a 35:30.12 performance.
Senior Jordan Dyson (Frederick, Md. / Frederick) came in second in the high jump with his 1.90m outing.
Next weekend, the team will travel to the University of Cincinnati for the Cincinnati Invitational before returning home to host the Bennie Benson Memorial Invitational on April 10.
