April 13, 2010-The Robert Morris University women's golf team captured its first-ever team title on Tuesday afternoon, besting the field by 42 strokes to lay claim to first place at the Mount St. Mary's Spring Invitational held at Quail Valley Golf Club in Littlestown, Pa. Freshman Jenna Rinker (Slippery Rock, Pa. / Slippery Rock), who transferred to RMU from Clarion University over winter break, took medalist honors as Colonials golfers claimed the top three spots and four of the top seven at the event.
Rinker tied with sophomore Elizabeth Wenger (Toledo, Ohio / Whitmer) after 36 holes before beating her teammate in a playoff. Both finished the 5,682-yard, par 72 layout with totals of 159 and each had rounds of 79 and 80. Rinker's 79 came in the second round while Wenger posted her mark in the first round.
