Beck Named NEC Player of the Week

Moon Township, Pa. - April 5, 2010 - Robert Morris University senior Alana Beck (Carle Place, N.Y. / Old Dominion) captured her first career Northeast Conference Player of the Week award after leading the Colonials to a 1-1 week.

Her impressive week consisted of 11 goals, three assists, three ground balls and four draw controls in a 20-5 win against Saint Francis (Pa.) and a 17-14 setback to cross town rival Duquesne. Against Saint Francis (Pa.) she tied a Robert Morris single-game record with six goals and matched her career-best with seven points to lead RMU past the Red Flash. The senior posted another strong performance against Duquesne by capturing another seven point performance with five goals and two assists. Beck netted her first goal midway through the first half to give the Colonials a 4-3 lead. She scored again with ten minutes left in regulation to keep her team within striking distance and then scored three times in the final 3:35 in an attempt to overtake the Dukes. Beck ranks eighth in the league with 2.45 goals per game and eighth with 3.18 points per game.

The Colonials wrap up their home season against Quinnipiac on Friday, April 9 at 12:30 p.m. and Sacred Heart on Sunday, April 11 at 1:00 p.m.
