Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's tennis team stayed perfect in its 2011 fall season Friday afternoon by earning a 6-1 victory over Coppin State in Baltimore, Md.
The win improves the Colonials to 3-0 so far this season in dual match action. RMU picked up victories in five of the six matches in singles and also won all three doubles matches to earn a point.
Junior Jose Limon (Colonia San Jose, Brazil) earned a three-set victory at the No. 1 singles flight, posting a 3-6, 6-4 and 10-7 win over Oleksiy Krylchuk.
At No. 3, sophomore Angus Thomson (Kedron, Australia) posted a 6-1, 6-3 win over Patrick Thomas, while junior Tarun Kishan (Mississauga, Ontario / Saint Francis Xavier Secondary) earned a 6-4, 6-4 victory over Reginald Robinson.
Also earning singles victories were juniors Liran Braun (Herzelia, Israel) and Dennis Russell (Girard, Pa. / Northwest Pa. Collegiate Academy). Braun defeated Tre'vonne Peyton at No. 5, 6-3 and 6-3, while Russell knocked off Jahra Wigfall, 6-0 and 6-1, at No. 6.
Limon and junior Andre Coiro (Rio De Janeiro, Brazil) continued their strong play in doubles action, posting an 8-6 win over Thomas and Krylchuk at the No. 1 doubles flight.
Robert Morris next travels to Emmitsburg, Md., to take part in the Mount St. Mary's Invitational Saturday, Oct. 1, and Sunday, Oct. 2.
