RMU Gets Ready for NEC Championships at Marietta

Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's indoor track & field team had its final tuneup prior to the 2011 Northeast Conference Indoor Championships by competing at the Marietta Alumni Meet this past weekend in Marietta, Ohio.

Sophomore Lance Washington (East Stroudsburg, Pa. / Stroudsburg) highlighted the meet for the Colonials by winning the triple jump thanks to a leap of 12.95 meters (42'6"). Washington also finished fifth int he long jump with a leap of 6.25 meters (20'6.25").

In the 500-meter, senior D.J. Smith (DuBois, Pa. / DuBois) finished second thanks to a time of 1:10.39, while freshman Michael Molchaney (Ephrata, Pa. / Ephrata) finished sixth in the 5,000-meter with a time of 17:26.27.

In the shot put, sophomore Robert Saltsgiver (Hermitage, Pa. / Hickory) finished as the runner-up with a throw of 14.16 meters (46'5.50") while also finishing 10th in the weight throw (12.86 meters).

Robert Morris now gears up for the 2011 NEC Indoor Track & Field Championships, which takes place in Landover, Md., Saturday, Feb. 12, and Sunday, Feb. 13.
