Moon Township, Pa. - The Robert Morris University men's tennis team concluded its 2010-11 campaign Friday afternoon by dropping a 4-0 decision to No. 4 seed Monmouth in the quarterfinals of the 2011 Northeast Conference Tournament in West Windsor, N.J.
The Colonials, which entered the tournament as the No. 5 seed, finishes its season with an overall record of 6-12 in dual matches.
The Hawks were able to post the win over RMU thanks to victories at the No. 1, No. 4 and No. 6 singles flights while also earning the doubles point.
At No. 1, Laurence Heads posted a 6-1, 6-1 victory over freshman Ricardo Horlle (Curitiba Parana, Brazil), while junior Igor Neves (Ponta Pora, Brazil) fell to David Sherwood at the fourth singles, 6-1 and 6-2.
Monmouth clinched the victory when Steve Suboleski posted a 6-4, 6-1 win over senior Aaron Haas (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Montour).
Sophomore Jose Limon (Colonia San Jose, Mexico) held a 6-1, 3-1 lead over Harveer Bhalla at the No. 3 singles before the match was called off.
Limon led Robert Morris in 2010-11 with a record of 10-7 in singles play, including 4-0 against league opponents. He owned a record of 6-5 at the No. 3 singles flight and a mark of 3-2 at No. 4.
