Cleveland, Ohio / Krenzler Field-Sophomore
Miro Cabrilo (Hamilton, Ontario / Glendale Secondary) scored six minutes into
overtime to lift the Robert Morris University men's soccer team to a 2-1 win at
Cleveland State Sunday afternoon. The win moves the Colonials to 3-2-1 while
the Vikings slip to 2-4.
Knotted up at one goal apiece after 90 minutes, Robert
Morris launched the decisive counter-attack in the 96th minute.
Senior Shane Beharry (Scarborough, Ontario / York University) initiated a
two-on-one breakaway chance for sophomores Cabrilo and Prince Samuels (Saint
Catherine, Jamaica / Kingston College) with a through ball down the right side.
With the defender taking away the passing chance to Samuels, Cabrilo instead
opted to shoot from the right side of the box. His strike was true and the
Colonials walked off with a 2-1 victory.
The Vikings struck first in the 18th minute as
Admir Suljevic scored his third goal of the season on a penalty kick. It was
the third penalty kick goal given up this year by the Colonials. They have
allowed just five live-play goals in six games.
RMU tied the game just two minutes after the mid-game
break on a Jamaican connection. Samuels scored his second marker of the season
on a cross from freshman Carl Reid (Kingston, Jamaica / Jamaican National U17).
Junior goalkeeper Toba Bolaji (Vaughan, Ontario / Maple)
finished the game with 10 saves, allowing only the penalty kick goal. Brad
Stuver had one save for Cleveland State.
The Colonials return to North Athletic Complex this
Thursday, Sept. 22, when cross-town rival Duquesne visits for a 4:00 p.m.
kick-off.
