Moon Township, Pa. - The Northeast Conference
named Robert Morris University freshman guard Lou Mataly (Toulouse, France /
Lycee-Bellevue) its NEC Rookie of the Week. Mataly, who earned her first start,
averaged 9.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists in two games last week.
Mataly nailed a trio of three-pointers during a bench
appearance against Stony Brook before earning his first career start four days
later against Duquesne. Doing most of her scoring from downtown, the first-year
Colonial shot 42 percent (5-of-12) from three-point range. Mataly scored nine
points in 18 minutes off the bench in a 56-48 setback to Stony Brook. She hit 3
of 8 field goal attempts, all of which were from beyond the arc, against the
Seawolves. Breaking into the starting five when the Colonials hosted Steel City
rival Duquesne, Mataly saw 36 minutes of floor time and contributed 10 points,
five rebounds and four assists. The 10 points were the second-most she has
scored in a single game this season. The rookie guard netted 13 points at Iowa
on Nov. 20.
After a brief two-game home stand, the Colonials play their
next four games on the road beginning with a game at Minnesota this Sunday,
Dec. 9. Tip-off is slated for 3:00 p.m. Eastern.
