RMU Closes Road Stretch with Loss to Navy

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – March 7, 2012The Robert Morris women's lacrosse team closed out a four-game road trip on Wednesday afternoon with an 8-18 loss to Navy. Newcomer Kristin Yoviene led the Colonials with two goals while senior Courtney Sicinski posted a team-high three points in the loss.

Robert Morris (1-4 overall, 0-0 NEC) fell behind the Mids early, surrendering seven goals to open the contest before junior Rachel Engel (Pittsburgh, Pa. / Upper St. Clair) put the Colonials on the board at 17:33 of the first with her second goal of the year. Sicinski (Downingtown, Pa. / Downingtown West) set up the goal – her first of two helpers in the game. After Navy added an eighth goal just over a minute later, freshman Emma Baukhages (Gambrills, Md. / Indian Creek) scored RMU's second goal of the day at 14:46 of the first half. The unassisted goal was Baukhages eighth goal of the season – ranking the newcomer second among Colonials this season.

The Mids (6-1) would answer back three minutes later before Sicinski and Yoviene (Easton Md. / Saints Peter and Paul) gave RMU a late push in the closing minutes of the first half to double the Colonials' offensive production in the first half. Navy would add a goal with 3:24 left in the half from Kathy Young, who would end the day with four goals, to take a 10-4 lead into halftime.

The Colonials would open the second half with a pair of goals from sophomore Lauren Roberts (Baldwinville, N.Y. / C.W. Baker) and sophomore MacKenzie Lawler (Okemos, Mich. / Okemos). Yoviene would add her second goal of the day at 19:31 before senior Colleen O'Donnell (Portland, Ore. / St. Mary's Academy) would tally her seventh goal of the season to close out RMU's offensive production for the day. Baukhages, Sicinski, Yoviene, Roberts, Engel and Lawler all ended the day with multi-point games.

Sophomore Kaitlin Pentz (Sykesville, Md. / Century) took the loss for RMU, making one save. Junior Angelina Gasparo (Philadelphia, Pa. / Nazareth Academy) came in for a relief appearance and made seven saves.

Robert Morris returns to Joe Walton Stadium on Saturday, March 10 against High Point.  Start time for that game is 1:00 p.m. ET.
