MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. / April 23, 2012 – While the
Robert Morris women's lacrosse season has come to a close, the honors continue
to roll in for the Colonials. Senior Emily Carlo has been named the Northeast
Conference Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week after helping RMU
sweep Wagner and LIU Brooklyn over the weekend.
Carlo (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley) led
Robert Morris with nine ground balls and six caused turnovers over the weekend
including a season-high six ground balls and five caused turnovers in the
Colonials' 19-11 win over the Blackbirds on Sunday. In her final collegiate
game, Carlo also tallied her first career goal on a free-position shot in the
second half.
The award marks Carlo's first career honor from the
NEC and Robert Morris' first NEC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week
award of the year. Carlo is the fourth Colonial to earn league honors this
season while the accolade marks the sixth overall time this year that a Robert
Morris women's lacrosse player has been honored.
Robert Morris closed out the 2012 campaign with a
7-10 overall record and a 5-4 mark in Northeast Conference play.
