Daytona Beach, Fla. / LPGA International - Junior
Tess Wolfe (Beaver Falls, Pa. / Blackhawk) fired a career-low round of 76 for
the Robert Morris University women's golf team in the second round of the 2012
Northeast Conference Women's Championships. The Colonials are seventh with one
round left to play in the championship event being contested on the Champions Course
at the LPGA International in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Wolfe came through with her four-over par round by
minimizing mistakes. The junior carded 13 pars, a birdie, three bogeys and a
double-bogey in the second of three rounds at the championship. Her 76 moved
her up the individual standings into a tie for 14th place, best among the five
RMU golfers competing.
Fairleigh Dickinson (612) remains first overall while LIU
Brooklyn (621) is second nine strokes behind the Knights. Sacred Heart (627) is
third followed by Monmouth (631), Central Connecticut State (643), Saint
Francis (Pa.) (648), Robert Morris (653), Wagner (656), Quinnipiac (692), Mount
St. Mary's (703) and St. Francis (N.Y.) (786).
Senior Elizabeth Wenger (Toledo, Ohio / Whitmer) sits in
17th, one stroke behind Wolfe after her second round 81 brought her tournament
total to 160. The Colonials first round
leader junior Jenna Rinker (Slippery Rock, Pa. / Slippery Rock) shot an 84
Saturday, slipping back to a tie for 24th overall.
Sophomore Alee Everman (Dayton, Ohio / Centerville)
needed 86 strokes to finish the course in the second round and is now 34th.
Sophomore Annie Bozich (Aliquippa, Pa. / Center) is 40th after a second round
of 89.
The third and final round of the championship tournament
is slated for Sunday, April 29.
