Moon Township, Pa. - Sophomore Chris Carper (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona) of the Robert Morris University men's track & field team completed his 2012 outdoor campaign Thursday afternoon by finishing 26th in the javelin at the NCAA East Preliminary Round at North Florida's Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.
Competing in the javelin for just the third time this season, Carper fouled on his first attempt, followed by a mark of 61.38 meters (201'4") in his second attempt. In his final attempt of the event, Carper posted a toss of 61.23 meters (200'10").
The appearance in the 2012 NCAA East Preliminary Round marks the second straight year Carper qualified for the meet.
Carper posted a season-high throw of 65.44 meters (214'8") to earn silver at the IC4A/ECAC Championships, a week after earning All-NEC Second Team accolades in event at the NEC Outdoor Track & Field Championships with a toss of 64.81 meters (212'7").
