Emmitsburg, Md. - The Robert Morris University men's track & field team concluded action in the 2012 Northeast Conference Outdoor Championships Sunday at Mount St. Mary's with a seventh-place finish.

The Colonials compiled 47 points in the two-day meet, with Monmouth winning its fourth straight championship with 183 points. The Hawks finished ahead of LIU Brooklyn (138), while Central Connecticut State (132), Sacred Heart (95) and Mount St. Mary's (83) round out the top five.

Junior Collin Ray (Middletown, Pa. / Middletown Area) and sophomore Chris Carper (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona) were each able to earn All-NEC Second Team accolades at the 2012 NEC Outdoor Championships, both in the throwing events.

Ray finished second in the discus thanks to a toss of 48.56 (159'4") meters, just shy of claiming an individual title that went to Monmouth's Vincent Elardo. Elardo posted a throw of 48.86 meters (160'4"). Ray also finished eighth in the hammer throw (48.06 meters) and 10th in the shot put (14.96 meters).

Carper finished second in the javelin for the second consecutive year, posting a toss of 64.81 meters (212'7"). Vincent DuVernois of Monmouth successfully defended his title in the event, finishing with a throw of 66.93 meters (219'7").

Posting RMU's top mark in the shot put was junior Brandon Morales (Westminster, Md. / Westminster), who finished with a final tally of 16.27 meters (53'4.50"), while junior Charles Thurner-Diaz (Camp Hill, Pa. / Camp Hill) earned the program's top tally in the hammer throw at 49.30 meters (161'9").

Both Morales and Thurner-Diaz finished seventh in their respective events.

Freshman Tip Worob (Denton, Md. / North Caroline) earned sixth place in the 10,000-meter run by crossing the finish line in 32:51.55. Already the school record holder in the event, Worob's time at the NEC Outdoor Championships is good enough to rank as the fourth fastest.

Also scoring for Robert Morris were junior Tyler Morton (Silver Spring, Md. / Springbrook) and sophomores Jermaine Dwight (Wyncote, Pa. / Cheltenham Township) and Fred Thompson (Turtle Creek, Pa. / Woodland Hills).

Morton finished seventh in the 110-meter hurdles at 15.18 seconds, while Dwight earned seventh place in the 400-meter dash thanks to a time of 49.53 seconds. Thompson crossed the finish line with a time of 9:35.45 to finish eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
